Professional characteristics
PhDr. Beata Žitniaková Gurgová, PhD. has been working at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Psychology, UMB since 2004 as an assistant professor. Since 2014 she has been the AIS credit coordinator within the Department of Psychology. She is a member of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Education.
At the Department she provides compulsory, obligatory elective and elective courses in the field of psychology, in the field of teaching psychology, pre-school pedagogy, social work and andragogy. Currently, he lectures and conducts seminars in the subjects Social Psychology, Psychology of Giftedness,
Psychobiology and Fundamentals of Anatomy and Psychology of Advertising. In addition, she conducts social psychological trainings in the field: psychology teaching and in the field: preschool pedagogy in both bachelor and master degree.
In the framework of her scientific-research and publishing activities she participated in the VEGA project No. 1/2507/05 "Value orientation of youth in the context of transformation of society" (responsible researcher: doc. PhDr. V. Salbot, CSc.). She was the responsible researcher in the UGA (University Grant Agency of the MBU) grant task "Perfectionism in relation to selected personality variables" (2010-2012). She was a member of the research team in the VEGA 1/0760/16 project entitled: The relationship of aggression and selected personality characteristics of athletes in relation to sport focus, performance and age. Currently she participates as a member of the research team in the project APVV-17-0557 Psychological approach to the creation, implementation and validation of a competency model for the development of leaders in education and in the project VEGA
1/0491/20 Physical activity and health indicators in children of younger school age under the supervision of Assoc. Alberty.
Her own scientific research activity is mainly focused on the issue of perfectionism, for which she published a monograph in 2018. Recently, her research focus has been on the issue of loneliness in young people.
So far, she has published 3 chapters in scientific monographs, 2 university textbooks (1 of which is co-authored), 2 textbooks (1 of which is co-authored), 1 paper in a peer-reviewed journal, 4 papers registered in Scopus or WOS databases.
She has attended numerous workshops and courses on expressive therapies. Currently she is a participant of psychotherapeutic training in dance-movement therapy in Prague. She further uses the acquired knowledge and experience in teaching experiential courses for the Psychology major, as well as teaching combinations.
