Department of Pedagogy and Andragogy

The Department of Pedagogy and Andragogy was established on 1.9. 2021 as a result of the effort to concentrate the potential of experts providing study and scientific research activities in study fields focused on education, training, and counseling of children, youth, adults, and seniors. This effort responds to current social trends, the unifying element of which is the perception of learning as a process that accompanies a person throughout life.

The Department of Pedagogy and Andragogy was established by merging two departments - the Department of Pedagogy and the Department of Andragogy and thus builds on the traditions and results of pedagogical and scientific research that these workplaces have long achieved in national and international academic space.

In this context, the Department of Pedagogy and Andragogy PF UMB focuses on quality training of experts for various areas of education, educational and preventive and counseling activities for children, youth, adults, and seniors.

An inseparable part of the activities of the Department of Pedagogy and Andragogy staff is also quality scientific research and publishing activities. The department mainly builds its scientific credit by actively participating in research and development projects in domestic and foreign grant schemes (VEGA, KEGA, APVV, Erasmus +, Visegrad fund, ...).

In its pedagogical and scientific research activities, the department develops intensive cooperation with influential professionals, professional and social organizations, and institutions in Slovakia and abroad (Association of Adult Education Institutions in the Slovak Republic, National Education Center, EPALE, Methodological and Pedagogical Center, Živica, Eduma, Community Center, the Milan Šimečka Foundation and others).
