Professional characteristics

Professional Background

My research interest is at the intersection of Old Testament exegesis and Biblical Theology, especially understanding the relationship between the historical text and theology. In 2012 I completed a PhD in Theological Studies - Old Testament at Trinity International University writing my dissertation on the plot-structure of Genesis. I argue that plot-structure is the organizing principle for the book of Genesis and lay the foundation for plot-structure as the organizing principle for biblical theology. In 2016 I was a research fellow at the Henry Center for Theological Understanding where I worked on their Templeton Religion Trust project "Evangelical Theology and the Doctrine of Creation". My research for this project focused on how a rigorous understanding of mimesis helps bridge the gap between the Genesis 1 creation account and modern scientific understanding of the origins of the universe. Currently, I am working on the team to organize the Matej Bel Conference on Science, Religion and Humane Philosophy and am completing articles on mimesis and its role in biblical exegesis and theology.
