Professional characteristics

Before her joining PF UMB, she worked for more than 15 years as a teacher and principal in a kindergarten. She also taught English language preschool age children as well as children of younger school age (UNIVERZA - Language School in Banská Bystrica).

She graduated from the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica with a bachelor's degree in Preschool and Elementary Pedagogy in 2009. In 2011, she completed a master's degree in preschool pedagogy. PhD degree in the field of Preschool and Elementary Pedagogy, she obtained in 2014 by defending her dissertation work Freinet's inspirations in pre-primary science education in an international context.

 Since October 2014, she has been working at the Department of Elementary and Preschool Pedagogy, Faculty of Education, MBU in Banská Bystrica, first as a researcher and later as an assistant professor.

Within the framework of pedagogical activities as well as in the field of scientific research, she profiles herself on the issues of preschool curriculum, alternative pedagogical concepts, inclusive education, preschool didactics, digital technologies in education and media education. In these areas, she guides students in writing their bachelor's and master's theses.

 In terms of project activity, she gained valuable experience in domestic project schemes. She was a member of the research team in the APVV project Implementation of Curricular Reform in Primary Schools in the Slovak Republic. She also collaborated in the research team of the VEGA project "Quality of selected components of school culture as a condition for creating an inclusive school environment".

From 2015 to 2020, she was a member of the Expert Commission for Pre-primary Education (State Pedagogical Institute, Bratislava). In order to further educate kindergarten teachers, at the request of this institution, in cooperation with Michaela Vargová, she prepared methodological materials focused on the implementation of DT in the kindergarten environment and a methodological manual focused on the development of media literacy of preschool children.

 As a member of the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Working Group of the European Commission, she participated in the creation of a non-political document (Proposal for key principles of a Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care) in 2011-2014. to improve the quality of pre-primary education in European countries.

In the period 2015-2017, she participated in the international project Inclusive Early Childhood Education (IECE) led by the European Agency for Development in Special Needs and Inclusive Education, which identified and analysed the main characteristics of the quality of pre-primary education for all children - a tool for self-reflection of kindergartens and facilities for children aged 0 - 6 years.
