Prof. ThDr. Pavel Hanes, PhD. has been working at the Department of Theology and Catechetics (formerly the Department of Evangelical Theology and Mission) at the Faculty of Education of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica since its foundation in 1993. He graduated in theology (master's level) in 1982 at the Evangelical Theological Faculty (EBF) of Charles University in Bratislava. Here in 2002, he also successfully completed his doctoral studies with a thesis on "The relationship between soteriology and social issues in the theology of revivalism". In the years 2002-2003 he was an active member of the Translation board of the Slovak Biblical Society, preparing an ecumenical translation of the Slovak Bible, specifically the book Job, and collaborated on the creation of cross-references in this translation of the Bible. In 2009 he received his habilitation degree from the EBF UK as an associate professor. In 2019 he was appointed professor of theology by the President of the Slovak Republic. At present, prof. Hanes is the guarantor of philosophy for theologians, apologetics and Old Testament subjects taught within Bc and Mgr. study programs of the study field No. 2.1.12 theology. He has been a supervisor and opponent of final theses of all university degrees in theology. In addition to his lecturing activities, he preaches and lectures abroad on the basis of invitations from several foreign theological institutions, e.g. for the East-West Center for Missions, Seoul, South Korea (August 1993); during a foreign lecture tour at US theological institutes and churches (February 2003); in Germany at Dortmund Universität (2010) in theological subjects for students of Religionspädagogik and in the International Baptist Theological Seminary, Prague, Czech Republic - (November 2011) on the topic Poverty in the Old Testament. Since 2011 he has completed other foreign mobilities in Poland, the Netherlands (several times), Cambridge (Tyndale House) in Great Britain, as well as in the USA.
