Professional background

I have been working at the Faculty of Education of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica since 1987. Until 2008 I worked at the Department of Pedagogy, Faculty of Education, MBU. After the establishment of the Department of Andragogy (2008), I became its head and still holds this position. In 2013 I was inaugurated as a professor in the field of Pedagogy. In my scientific-research, pedagogical and publishing activities, I primarily focus on the area of ​​non-formal education, in the last period mainly with a focus on the adult and senior population. As part of my scientific research activities, I have so far participated in 13 domestic and international research and development projects, 4 of which as a project leader or national coordinator. I am the author and co-author of 7 scientific and professional monographs, 3 university textbooks, 59 scientific papers published in foreign and domestic journals, scientific and conference proceedings, and monographs, including outputs registered in the WoS and SCOPUS databases. I record more than 300 responses to my outputs, of which more than 100 are foreign, including 12 registered in the WoS and SCOPUS citation indices. Under my leadership, 10 doctoral dissertations in the fields of Pedagogy and Andragogy were successfully defended, currently leading 3 doctoral students. I am a member of scientific councils and professional commissions of doctoral studies at universities in Slovakia and abroad (Prague, Prešov, Nitra, Banská Bystrica). He is a member of the departmental assessment and evaluation commissions: Cultural and Educational Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic (KEGA), Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (SAAVS). As a member of commissions or as an opponent, I participate in habilitation and inauguration proceedings at universities in the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic (Banská Bystrica, Nitra, Olomouc). I am a member of the editorial boards of domestic and foreign scientific periodicals and proceedings. I am the main editor of the proceedings of scientific works ANDRAGOGICAL STUDIES (since 2018) and the main professional guarantor of the international scientific conferences EDUCATION OF ADULTS (since 2011). I am the vice-president of the Association of Adult Education Institutions in the Slovak Republic. I am the chairman of the Academic Senate of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.
