Professional characteristics

doc. PaedDr. Ivan Pavlov, PhD. (1965) graduated from the Faculty of Education at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Prešov (Department of Pedagogy). From 1989 he worked as a secondary school teacher, later as a methodologist and lecturer in professional development of teachers and later he became the general manager of the Methodological and Pedagogical Center in Bratislava. In 2003 he completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Philosophy at the Comenius University in Bratislava, in 2013 he received his habilitation on the topic of Professional Development of Teachers in Slovakia at the Faculty of Education at the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. In 2020, he was inaugurated at the Mate Bel University in the field of andragogy as professor with the lecture: Andragogical professional counseling - an innovative approach in support of professional development of employees in selected organizations. He currently works at the Department of Andragogy of this faculty, and externally he also teaches at the Faculty of Education at the Charles University in Prague. His scientific work focuses on teacher andragogy, theoretical issues of education and self-education and management of adult learning. He is the author of scientific monographies and studies, university textbooks, he speaks at domestic and foreign conferences, acts as a consultant and opponent of final qualification and attestation theses. He is the main solver of scientific projects VEGA, KEGA, APVV and the international project Erasmus plus. In addition to his scientific work, he participates in the creation of departmental concepts to support the professional development of teachers and works as a lecturer and advisor to the professional development of teachers in Slovakia.
