Professional characteristics

He completed his university education in the field of social work at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Following the completion of his doctoral studies at the Institute of Romological Studies, he worked as a field social worker in the town of Hnúšťa, where he was engaged in supporting residents of marginalized communities. His doctoral research focused on the conditions and determinants of labour mobility among members of marginalized Roma communities. During his doctoral studies, he completed a professional internship with the KaskoSan organization in the United Kingdom, where he worked with Slovak Roma families living and working in the cities of Oldham and Bradford. This experience enabled him to combine academic research with practical insights into migration, integration, and social inclusion processes in an international context.

Alongside his research and professional activities related to cross-border labour mobility, he collaborated with community centres supporting social networks and community life among Slovak Roma families living abroad. His current research focuses primarily on the reconciliation of employment and informal caregiving for older adults in home and community settings. In particular, he examines the motivations that lead individuals to assume the role of working informal caregivers, as well as the strategies they develop to manage the demands associated with combining paid work and caregiving responsibilities. His additional research interests include social services for older adults, with a particular emphasis on the use of telecommunication and assistive technologies to support independent living and enhance the quality of care. He is also engaged in research on institutional care for older people in the context of contemporary demographic and societal challenges.
