Professional characteristics
Doc. ThDr. Albín Masarik, PhD. belongs to the first generation of teachers at the Department of Theology and Catechetics (formerly the Department of Evangelical Theology and Mission) at the Faculty of Education of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica since its foundation in 1993. He graduated in theology (master's level) in 1983 at the Evangelical Theological Faculty, Charles University in Bratislava, and his doctoral studies were completed there also, in 2004, In 2010 he received his habilitation degree from the Theological Faculty of Catholic University as an associate professor. He teaches Homiletics and some other subjects within Bc and Mgr. study programms of the study field Theology. He has been supervisor of more than 100 final theses of all university degrees (mostly Bc. and Mgr.)
He has completed repeated lecturing mobilities in Northern Ireland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia and Romania, both at universities and for professionals. During his research mobilities, he visited International Baptist Theological Seminary, Ruschlikon, Schwitzerland (1987 and 1989), Wheaton College, Wheaton, USA (1995) Belfast Bible College, Dunmurry, GB (2008), Tyndale House, Cambridge, GB (2006) and Theologische Fakultät, Tuebingen (2019). His research focuses on the field of Homiletics, Pastoral counseling, and Transformative Theology.
Since 2019 he is a member of International Academy of Practical Theology.
